Hi I have a 86 fz 0 that someone used a bottom end from a 87 fz 700 I noticed the 750 have 2 pick up coils but the 700 only has one pick up coil is this what is causing the bike to backfire when given gas the bike idles fine though I am new to these bikes and don’t know what is going on

Well if its any help the Clymer manual doesn’t show any difference in the engine even the carbs appear to be the same , however the fzX700 has different carbs and different connections but the engine is the same.

and what is a 86 fz 0?… do you mean 1000 or a 750 because im only talking about the 750.

sorry I meant a 750 I know the stroke on the 700 and 750 are different and for some reason the 750 had 2 pick ups the 700 had one so idk if I have to change the wiring so the 700 bottom end would work. I have the shop manual that the dealers use for the bikes and it shows no difference either but if I look at schematics on sites it shows the 750 with 2 and 700 with one so i know I had to fix some wiring so where the pickup connects to the cdi so both coils would fire so i’m thinking something is up with the pick up or need to change anything any help would be great the bike deserves to be on the road again after 8 years of setting
